Teriyaki Sauce [Small Bowl]

  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tsp cornstarch

Steak [Cutting Board]

  • 1 (1 1/2 pound) flank steak, trimmed
  • Salt and ground black pepper, for both sides

Skillet Oil for Steak [12-Inch Nonstick Skillet]

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Skillet Oil for Vegetables [Mini Bowl]

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Vegetables [Medium Bowl]

  • 3 carrots, peeled and sliced 1/8 inch thick
  • 8 ounces snow peas, strings removed

Garlic [Mini Bowl]

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  1. Whisk the Teriyaki Sauce until smooth and set it aside.
  2. Pat the Steak dry with paper towels, then season both sides with salt and ground black pepper.
  3. Heat the Skillet Oil for Steak in the 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until just smoking.
  4. Cook the steak until well browned and the meat registers 125ยฐF for medium-rare, about 5 minutes per side.
  5. Transfer the cooked steak to a large plate and tent it loosely with foil.
  6. Add the Skillet Oil for Vegetables to the skillet and heat over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  7. Add the Vegetables and cook until lightly browned, about 3 minutes.
  8. Add the Garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  9. Transfer the cooked vegetables to a platter.
  10. Add the Teriyaki Sauce and any meat juices from the steak to the skillet.
  11. Simmer until the sauce thickens, about 3 minutes.
  12. Slice the cooked steak thinly on the bias against the grain.
  13. Transfer the sliced steak to the platter with the vegetables.
  14. Spoon the teriyaki sauce over the steak and vegetables.
