Troubleshooting Recipe Imports

Import URL Button Is Disabled

The Import URL button only becomes available after a valid web address has been entered.

• Copy the full URL from your browser address bar.
• Make sure it begins with https:// or http://.
• Remove extra spaces before or after the URL.

Generate Recipe Button Is Disabled

The Generate Recipe button stays disabled until recipe text has been pasted into the recipe box.

• Copy the recipe text again.
• Tap inside the recipe box.
• Paste the recipe text.

The URL Is Not Valid

Mise It could not recognize the web address.

• The URL may be incomplete.
• The URL may have been copied incorrectly.
• The link may not point to a normal webpage or document.

Try copying the URL directly from your browser address bar and pasting it again.

This Website Is Not Supported

Some websites block automated recipe importing or use layouts that cannot be read reliably.

You can still use the recipe. Open the recipe page, copy the recipe text, and use Paste Recipe instead.

The Recipe Page Could Not Be Reached

Mise It was not able to access the webpage.

• The website may be temporarily unavailable.
• The page may have moved.
• Your internet connection may have been interrupted.
• The website may have returned an error.

Open the page in your browser first. If it loads normally, try importing again or use Paste Recipe.

This Does Not Appear to Be a Recipe Page

Import from URL works best with actual recipe pages.

These usually will not work:

• Homepages
• Search result pages
• Category pages
• Author pages
• General blog articles
• Pinterest pins
• YouTube videos or social media posts

Open the individual recipe page, then copy that URL.

The Page Was Blocked, Unsafe, or Not Appropriate

Some links cannot be imported if the page does not appear to be a safe, appropriate, or supported recipe source.

Try using the original recipe website. If you can view the recipe normally, copy the recipe text and use Paste Recipe.

The Recipe Could Not Be Extracted

The page loaded, but Mise It could not extract enough usable recipe content.

This may happen with:

• Highly customized websites
• Pages with unusual layouts
• Pages with very little recipe content
• Pages where the recipe is loaded in a way that cannot be read automatically

Try again. If it still fails, use Paste Recipe.

Recipe Extraction Timed Out

Sometimes a webpage takes too long to clean or read.

Tap Retry if the option appears. If it continues to time out, open the recipe in your browser, copy the recipe text, and use Paste Recipe.

PDF Could Not Be Parsed

Some PDFs do not contain enough selectable text for Mise It to identify a complete recipe.

If the PDF is a scan or image, use your device's text recognition first:

• iPhone or iPad: use Live Text to copy the recipe text.
• Android: use Google Lens to copy the recipe text.

Then paste the copied text into Paste Recipe.

The Recipe Is Behind a Paywall or Requires Login

Some websites block automated importing even if the recipe opens normally in your browser.

If you have access to the recipe:

1. Open the recipe in your browser.
2. Sign in if required.
3. Copy the recipe text.
4. Use Paste Recipe.

Not Enough Content to Identify a Recipe

Mise It could not find enough recipe information to build a complete recipe.

Make sure you include:

• Recipe title
• Ingredient list
• Cooking instructions

A short note, ingredient list only, or partial recipe may not be enough.

The Recipe Is Not in English

Mise It currently supports English-language recipes.

If the recipe is written in another language, you can still import it by translating it first:

1. Copy the recipe from the website.
2. Open your favourite AI assistant or translation service.
3. Paste the recipe and ask it to translate the recipe into English.
4. Copy the translated recipe.
5. Return to Mise It and use Paste Recipe.

Once translated into English, Mise It can organize the recipe into ingredients, instructions, servings, cooking times, and more.

Good news: Support for additional languages is already planned and will be added in a future release, making it even easier to import recipes from around the world.

This Does Not Appear to Be a Recipe

The pasted or extracted content may include too much unrelated information.

Common causes include:

• Advertisements
• Comments
• Long article text
• Nutrition articles
• Website navigation text
• Only a list of ingredients without instructions

Try copying only the recipe title, ingredients, and instructions.

The Submitted Content Could Not Be Processed

Something in the copied text may not be readable.

Try simplifying the paste by removing:

• Extra website text
• Ads or comments
• Unusual symbols
• Broken formatting
• Repeated sections

Then paste the cleaned recipe text again.

Import Failed

Occasionally, something may go wrong after the import starts.

• Tap Retry if the option appears.
• Check that your internet connection is working.
• Copy the recipe again and paste a cleaner version.
• Use Paste Recipe if URL import keeps failing.

Imported With Quality Warnings

Good news — your recipe imported successfully.

This warning means some details may be incomplete or may need a quick edit.

After saving, you can edit:

• Recipe title
• Ingredients
• Instructions
• Servings
• Prep time
• Cook time
• Notes
• Recipe photo

Nothing Copied on iPhone or iPad

Some websites do not show Select All.

1. Touch and hold the recipe text.
2. Drag the selection handles to include the recipe.
3. Tap Copy.
4. Paste into Mise It.

Nothing Copied on Android

Touch and hold the text until selection handles appear. Drag the handles to include the full recipe, then tap Copy.
